Over the past three years, under an emergency pandemic measure, states have stopped double-checking if people who are enrolled in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vox.com\/videos\/2017\/8\/4\/16095062\/medicaid-explained-history-how-works\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Medicaid<\/a>&nbsp;are still eligible for its coverage. If you were enrolled in Medicaid in March 2020, or if you became eligible at any point during the pandemic, you have remained eligible the entire time no matter what, even if your income later went up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But in April, that will end \u2014 states will be re-checking every Medicaid enrollee\u2019s eligibility, an enormous administrative undertaking that will put health insurance coverage for millions of Americans at risk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Biden administration&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/aspe.hhs.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/documents\/60f0ac74ee06eb578d30b0f39ac94323\/aspe-end-mcaid-continuous-coverage.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">estimates<\/a>&nbsp;upward of 15 million people \u2014 one-sixth of the roughly 90 million Americans currently receiving Medicaid benefits \u2014 could lose coverage, a finding that independent analysts&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kff.org\/medicaid\/issue-brief\/10-things-to-know-about-the-unwinding-of-the-medicaid-continuous-enrollment-provision\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pretty much agree with<\/a>.
