And state lawmakers have advanced DeSantis\u2019s own political career at the expense of transparency and accountability. That\u2019s all been done in the name of wooing an activist GOP base, which still loves former&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vox.com\/donald-trump\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">President Donald Trump<\/a>&nbsp;and has given him a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2023\/05\/10\/politics\/donald-trump-polls\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">historically large<\/a>&nbsp;lead in Republican primary polls.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;DeSantis signed a law that imposes felony penalties on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vox.com\/health-care\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">health care<\/a>&nbsp;workers who provide&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2023\/05\/17\/politics\/desantis-signs-anti-trans-bill\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">gender-affirming care<\/a>&nbsp;for minors.
