Democrats, by and large, think the news they get from existing outlets is reasonably trustworthy, as this helpful YouGov poll<\/a> \u2014 which replicates a similar one<\/a> conducted a year ago \u2014 spells out. It\u2019s Republicans who distrust almost all outlets that aren\u2019t explicitly aimed at them, like NewsMax. And even the Messenger\u2019s own poll that purports to show a hunger for unbiased news underscores this: 55 percent of Democrats think coverage of their own party is fair \u2014 but only 19 percent of Republicans said the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fox News, of course, figured this out from the get-go: That\u2019s why their \u201cfair and balanced\u201d pitch actually means \u201cnews you\u2019ll like if you\u2019re on the right side of the political spectrum.\u201d And that\u2019s not what CNN and the Messenger say they\u2019re selling.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
