\n\n“On air, Fox News<\/a> personalities have been endlessly attacking<\/a> so-called \u201cwoke<\/a> corporations.\u201d But now, Fox News finds itself in the right\u2019s cultural crosshairs \u2014 with conservatives accusing it of promoting \u201ctrans<\/a> ideology\u201d in its own workplace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The inciting incident is a Monday morning story in the Daily Signal<\/a>, the media arm of the conservative Heritage Foundation think tank. In the story, reporter Mary Margaret Olohan writes that Fox\u2019s employee handbook allows employees to use \u201cbathrooms that align with their gender identity<\/a>, rather than their biological sex,\u201d permits them to \u201cdress in alignment with their preferred gender,\u201d and requires that their coworkers use \u201ctheir preferred name and pronouns in the workplace.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many of Fox\u2019s rules in this area appear to be in line with state law: The company\u2019s headquarters are in New York, where state law explicitly prohibits discrimination on the basis of gender identity<\/a> (something Olohan notes in passing but doesn\u2019t dwell on). Fox told me in a written statement, \u201cFOX News Media is compliant with all Human Rights laws mandated by the cities and states in which we operate, including New York and California.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That there\u2019s less to the Daily Signal\u2019s exclusive than meets the eye didn\u2019t stop many on the culture war right from blasting Fox as a sellout<\/a>.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
