They actually originate from the war in Syria \u2013 including my family\u2019s besieged hometown of Aleppo, where&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/world-news\/2023\/06\/21\/bashar-al-assad-syria\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the Assad regime\u2019s tanks<\/a>&nbsp;once fired on my grandparents\u2019 home while they were still inside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They are not isolated examples, and the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/business\/2023\/10\/11\/fake-gaza-news-twitter-elon-musk-loses-grip-reality\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">proliferation of misinformation<\/a>&nbsp;on X is now so extreme that the European Commission&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/world-news\/2023\/10\/13\/elon-musk-x-investigated-eu-misinformation-israel-hamas\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">began an official investigation<\/a>&nbsp;last week.
