The second and third largest grocers are Amazon and Costco. Kroger and Albertsons are only a distant fourth and sixth with market shares of 4.4 percent and 2.2 percent, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Grocery stores have experienced a declining market share, while superstores and online competitors have grown. For example, like many&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.supermarketnews.com\/retail-financial\/traditional-supermarkets-lose-share-playing-field-shifts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">traditional grocers<\/a>, Kroger&#8217;s market share has&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.numerator.com\/resources\/blog\/kroger-albertsons-merger-implications-consumers-and-future-retail\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">declined<\/a>&nbsp;in recent years while Walmart&#8217;s has&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/georgeanderson\/2023\/08\/21\/walmart-was-a-more-essential-retailer-than-target-in-q2\/?sh=353a6a4b690c\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">increased<\/a>.
