Depending on the age of your vehicle, it can also be&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.consumerreports.org\/cars\/car-repair-maintenance\/can-using-gas-with-15-percent-ethanol-damage-your-car-a7855829511\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">bad for your engine<\/a>.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One thing ethanol is good for, though, is corn farmers. A&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.taxpayer.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/TCS-Biofuels-Subsidies-Report.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2021 report<\/a>&nbsp;by Taxpayers for Common Sense called the Renewable Fuel Standard &#8220;the largest current subsidy for corn ethanol.&#8221; A 2022 study&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/environment\/us-corn-based-ethanol-worse-climate-than-gasoline-study-finds-2022-02-14\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">found<\/a>, as Reuters put it, that &#8220;as a result of the mandate, corn cultivation grew 8.7% and expanded into 6.9 million additional acres of land between 2008 and 2016.&#8221;It therefore makes perfect sense for two candidates desperate for votes in Iowa\u2014the state that&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/worldpopulationreview.com\/state-rankings\/corn-production-by-state\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">produces more corn<\/a>&nbsp;than any other\u2014to pledge fealty to a federal mandate that requires more people to buy corn-based ethanol.
