Greg Abbott&#8217;s busing operations. &#8220;Overall crime is down year over year in Philadelphia, Chicago, Denver, New York and Los Angeles,&#8221; NBC&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/2024-election\/trumps-claims-migrant-crime-wave-are-not-supported-national-data-rcna140896\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We don&#8217;t have real-time data, but the partial crime data that exist for this year show consistent declines in major crimes in major cities,&#8221; concurs David J. Bier, director of immigration studies at the Cato Institute. &#8220;The most significant crime spike in recent years occurred in 2020\u2014when illegal immigration was historically low until the end of the year.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This aligns with historic&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2024\/02\/29\/truth-about-illegal-immigration-crime\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">trends<\/a>. In 2015, the Migration Policy Institute&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.migrationpolicy.org\/sites\/default\/files\/publications\/ExecAction-Removals-SCOMM.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">found<\/a>&nbsp;that undocumented immigrants have a lower rate of felony convictions than the overall U.S. population does.
