Photos online showed him with dyed blue and blond hair \u2014 the colors of Ukraine\u2019s flag \u2014 swaddled in a star-spangled banner neckerchief and a bulletproof vest.<\/p>\n
That summer, NBC News spoke briefly with Routh, who said in a message that the West\u2019s \u201climited response\u201d to Ukraine\u2019s war was \u201can indictment of the entire human race\u201d and \u201cextremely disappointing.\u201d There was never any formal interview, and his comments were not included in NBC News\u2019 coverage of the war.”<\/p>\n
