The authors also estimated that over the 26-year period, a $1 increase in each state\u2019s minimum wage could have prevented 27,550 suicide deaths, or about 1,059 per year.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The paper has&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/sections\/health-shots\/2020\/01\/08\/794568118\/raising-the-minimum-wage-by-1-may-prevent-thousands-of-suicides-study-shows\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">created<\/a>&nbsp;a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/business\/2020\/01\/09\/1-increase-minimum-wage-is-linked-lower-suicide-rates\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">bit<\/a>&nbsp;of a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vice.com\/en_us\/article\/884n5k\/raising-the-minimum-wage-by-just-dollar1-could-literally-save-lives\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">stir<\/a>.
