\u201dThe department was established to protect America from the ever-present threat of global terrorism,\u201d Ridge, a Republican, told the radio host Michael Smerconish. \u201cIt was not established to be the president\u2019s personal militia.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ridge said it would be a \u201ccold day in hell\u201d before he would have consented as a governor to what is taking place. \u201cI wish the president would take a more collaborative approach toward fighting this lawlessness than the unilateral approach he\u2019s taken,\u201d he said.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
