Not long before Cheney\u2019s statement, Rep. John Katko (NY) became the first elected Republican member of Congress to commit to backing this impeachment. \u201cTo allow the president of the United States to incite this attack without consequence is a direct threat to the future of our democracy,\u201d Katko said in his own statement<\/a>. \u201cFor that reason, I cannot sit by without taking action.\u201d A third House Republican, Rep.
