One of the children, 11-year-old&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/myanmar-news-where-is-it-coup-protest-deaths-deadliest-weekend\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Aye Myat Thu<\/a>, was buried with her drawings and toys as her family mourned beside her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/myanmar-news-where-is-it-coup-protest-deaths-deadliest-weekend\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Thousands<\/a>&nbsp;of people also fled into neighboring Thailand to escape the violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s the largest number of people killed in a single day since the military ousted the country\u2019s democratic government in a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vox.com\/22260076\/myanmar-coup-military-suu-kyi-explain\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">February 1 coup<\/a>. Some&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/idUSKBN2BL0NV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">500 people have been killed in total<\/a>&nbsp;since the military seized control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pressure from the international community on Myanmar\u2019s military to relinquish control has been growing, with the United Nations special rapporteur for the country recently calling the junta\u2019s campaign \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/news.un.org\/en\/story\/2021\/03\/1088462\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">mass murder<\/a>.\u201d&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;On Monday, US Trade Representative&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AmbassadorTai\/status\/1376539086362705922?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Katherine Tai<\/a>&nbsp;announced that the Biden administration would \u201csuspend all US trade engagement\u201d with Myanmar that occurs&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ustr.gov\/about-us\/policy-offices\/press-office\/press-releases\/2013\/may\/u.s.-burma-sign-tifa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">under a 2013 bilateral trade agreement<\/a>.
