Single-family zoning, which means it\u2019s illegal to build anything other than single-family homes, is prevalent in the suburb. Single-family homes are more expensive than apartments, townhomes, or duplexes, and that makes rent costly, too. Houses in Franklin go for an average price of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.redfin.com\/city\/7080\/TN\/Franklin\/housing-market\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">$550,000<\/a>, far above the average in Nashville of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.redfin.com\/city\/13415\/TN\/Nashville\/housing-market\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">$335,000<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In some parts of Franklin, itis illegal to have a property smaller than 2 acres.
