Amid a recent delta variant outbreak and nationwide lockdown in Malaysia<strong>,<\/strong>&nbsp;the government&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/covid-19-surge-in-malaysia-threatens-to-prolong-global-chip-shortage-11630234802\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">designated electronics manufacturers<\/a>&nbsp;critical businesses so that production could continue. In May, Vietnam&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2021-05-31\/vietnam-asks-samsung-other-firms-to-find-vaccines-for-workers?sref=Wg6QzS2e\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">directed vaccines directly to factory workers<\/a>, while urging smartphone manufacturers working in the country, like Samsung, to do the same.
