The U.S. government has concluded that the practices are among abusive state policies targeting Uyghurs that&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/antony-blinken-agrees-china-uighur-genocide-pompeo-designation-2021-1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">constitute genocide<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But industry groups and trade lawyers say the law\u2019s strict compliance standards coupled with problematic Customs and Border Protection enforcement will harm both U.S. business interests and Uyghur Muslims.&#8221;&nbsp;&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;\u201cIf you&#8217;re a company who is manufacturing in that area, you\u2019re going to need to prove that slaves didn&#8217;t make it. The presumption is on you,\u201d&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rubio.senate.gov\/public\/index.cfm\/2021\/12\/rubio-s-uyghur-forced-labor-prevention-act-to-become-law\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rubio said<\/a>&nbsp;after the bill\u2019s Dec. 16 Senate passage.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Assertions of the law\u2019s stringent compliance standards are no exaggeration.
