First, of course, they are&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/fivethirtyeight.com\/features\/we-asked-2000-americans-about-their-biggest-concern-the-resounding-answer-inflation\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">concerned about the economy<\/a>&nbsp;\u2014 a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/fivethirtyeight.com\/features\/whats-behind-bidens-record-low-approval-rating\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">major driver of disapproval<\/a>&nbsp;of Biden overall \u2014 and about the direction the country is headed. But young Americans also have some concerns that set them apart from older Americans. They are particularly worried about achieving financial independence and other markers of adulthood, for instance. They are also&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vox.com\/23042037\/joe-biden-young-voters-disapprove-progressive-gen-z\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">frustrated with the Biden administration\u2019s limited progress<\/a>&nbsp;on issues like tackling climate change and forgiving student debt, which many young people care a lot about. Moreover, Biden&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/fivethirtyeight.com\/features\/what-defines-the-sanders-coalition\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">wasn\u2019t the first choice<\/a>&nbsp;of young voters in the 2020 Democratic primary, so his approval among this group may have been soft to begin with. The question now is whether this dissatisfaction with Biden will affect whether young Americans vote in the midterms, a potentially significant factor in determining&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/fivethirtyeight.com\/features\/why-the-presidents-party-almost-always-has-a-bad-midterm\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">how poorly the midterms could go<\/a>&nbsp;for Democrats since young people&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vox.com\/2019\/4\/26\/18516645\/2018-midterms-voter-turnout-census\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">voted at a higher rate<\/a>&nbsp;in 2018 than in previous midterms and overwhelmingly backed Democrats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In some ways, Biden\u2019s decline among young Americans mirrors his standing overall.
