I no longer am in favor of Latinx. Don’t get me wrong, I agree with the argument made in this piece! But, I just think there are better alternatives. As mentioned in the piece, Hispanic works just fine. But also, Latin! The plural: Latins. Latin has the downside of already referring to three other things: the language of the Romans, the European Crusaders, and the groups of people around Rome before Rome became an empire. But, context clues will make it where almost no one ever will be confused whether one is referring to modern Latins from Latin America or one of the other Latins. That’s a fourth alternative meaning of Latin—a Latin is one of the uses of the word Latin. Anywho, I think it’ll be clear in context. I’ll probably just go with Hispanic.
