Tucker Carlson, Nick Fuentes and the Right’s ‘Groyper’ Problem | The Ezra Klein Show

The online ecosystem of the right includes a heavy dose of straight up anti-semitism. Trump helped break the mold from the beginning of his first political campaign when it comes to rhetoric that used to be unacceptable. Edgy jokes justified by fighting the woke censors pushed the barrier further until today where the far right ecosystem includes actual open Nazis like Nick Fuentes.

American Democracy Might Be Stronger Than Donald Trump

“Trump does all the same things as the authoritarians Levitsky and Ziblatt studied: He has refused to accept electoral defeats; called political opponents criminals and tried to jail them even while backing his own violent supporters; and lashed out at opponents and the media as “enemies of the people” — a chilling phrase that echoes Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin and the Nazi propagandist Joseph Goebbels.

But Trump’s authoritarianism also resembles that of dangerous populists who failed to kill democracy. Careful studies that never seem to get much press find that only about a fifth of dangerous populists actually kill democracy, including in different regions and across different time spans. If you’re serious about weighing the Trump threat, you should be asking what makes the difference between countries where democracy died and countries where it survives.”

Why Munich 1938 concessions to Nazi Germany haunt Washington 2025 talks

“Vladimir Putin’s desire to grab Ukraine’s key defensive lines echoes how Adolf Hitler secured Czechoslovakia’s fortifications.

“Ukraine has spent the last 11 years pouring time, money and effort into reinforcing the fortress belt and establishing significant defense industrial and defensive infrastructure in and around these cities,” the institute said.

If that happens, Russia would move its frontline roughly 80 kilometers further west, while Ukraine would be forced to build new defenses on flat and open terrain in neighboring Kharkiv and Dnipropetrovsk — far harder to hold than the fortified cities it controls now.

In September 1938, Adolf Hitler argued that handing over the ethnic-German majority Sudetenland region to the Reich would satisfy his ambitions and end the threat of war in Europe. France and Britain agreed, and browbeat Prague into accepting. Hitler — whose word was as reliable as Putin’s — said he had no further territorial ambitions.”

How to Fight Fascism in America — with Timothy Snyder | Prof G Conversations

Historically, business leaders were key to strengthening facism. Companies focus more on how they can use a leader to make money, rather than on what that leader and their cooperation is doing to democracy, society, and people.

Ben Shapiro Struggles Defending Elon From Nazi Criticism

It really looked a lot like a Nazi salute. And he did it twice. A non-troll would afterwards say ‘oops!’, my bad, I didn’t realize in the moment what that looked like.’ Instead, he just joked and claimed he’s a victim of people calling others fascist too easily. He either did it on purpose as an inappropriate joke, did it on accident and is too blind to realize it was a mistake, or did it on purpose because he’s an actual Nazi. My guess is the first one, with the second one being the next most likely…I hope it wasn’t the last one.
