Poland called a Sunday rail line explosion “sabotage” and on Tuesday blamed two Ukrainians working for Russia.
Globsec, a Prague-based think tank, calculated there were more than 110 acts of sabotage and attempted attacks carried out in Europe between January and July, mainly in Poland and France, by people with links to Russia.”
Trump threatens to jail Democratic lawmakers for saying that troops should not follow illegal orders, even though that is true, military men and women shouldn’t follow orders that are illegal. Threatening to jail lawmakers for such statements is yet another dent in U.S. Democracy.
We can’t assume other people in history and in the current world think like us. Not everyone is a reasonable person who can be reached with diplomacy. Some people are ideologically psychopaths and are willing to kill many many people to get what they want. Such people can only be stopped by force.
The wisdom of the crowds and the efficient market hypothesis require an amount of independence of the people in the crowd. With the internet and social media, people are much more connected and therefore much less independent. The same fads, cults, and appeals that warp people’s political views may also warp their market views. So, markets may have gotten dumber.
Popular podcaster Tim Pool often doesn’t know what he’s talking about, yet he talks confidently and angrily. Some of it doesn’t even seem honest–I’m not sure if he’s convinced himself of bad arguments or if he argues dishonestly.
